Privacy Policy
Last updated July 24, 2026
Silo ("we," "us") is a personal finance dashboard. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it. Silo is operated as a small independent project based in Quebec, Canada.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address and authentication identity, managed by our auth provider, Supabase.
- Financial data: account balances, transactions, holdings, and institution names, retrieved from your bank via Plaid once you connect an account. We never see or store your online banking credentials — Plaid handles that connection directly.
- App preferences: categorization rules, budgets, custom categories, and similar settings you create while using Silo.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising. Data flows through the following service providers, each strictly to keep Silo running:
- Plaid — connects to your bank and retrieves account/transaction data.
- Supabase — handles authentication and stores your data in a Postgres database.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (password resets, confirmations).
- Sentry — error monitoring; may capture request metadata if something breaks.
- Vercel — hosts the application.
- Google — optional, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Cookies
Silo uses a session cookie set by Supabase Auth to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our database, and any connected bank access tokens are revoked with Plaid.
Your rights
You can download a full export of your data at any time from Settings. You can also permanently delete your account and all associated data from the same page. If you have questions about your data, contact us at the address below.
Quebec & Canadian privacy law
We aim to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Residents of Quebec are additionally protected under Quebec's Law 25 (formerly Bill 64), regardless of where in Canada you use Silo from — this applies to any Quebec resident's data we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
